My summary of I Killed Zoe SpanosAnna gets a summer job in Herron Mills, babysitting an eight-year-old named Paisley. Soon she realizes Paisley only chose her for the job because she looked like her old babysitter, Zoe who had disappeared on New Year's Eve. Every time Anna goes out in town she's bombarded by people double-taking, sometimes even asking whether she is Zoe. That is until Zoe's body turns up in the local lake. All at the same time, Anna can't help but wonder why everything in this town seems so familiar.
Martina is best friends with Aster (Zoe's younger sister), she's been creating a podcast to try and get to the bottom of who killed Zoe Spanos. Martina helps Anna uncover secrets that help lead to who really killed Zoe.
My opinion on I Killed Zoe Spanos
The chapters go back and forth from: then to now, as well as first-person to third-person, and from narrating Anna to narrating Martina. At first, I didn't love it because of how confusing I thought it was. Soon I learned how much better it made the story, it uncovered things at a quicker pace than I realized.
I didn't really like how many characters were introduced at first in fear I would have to keep track of them all. Though in the end, the beginning characters had a major role in the story, it wasn't as dire to remember their names.
The story took a while to pick up pace, but I think it was good to get to know the characters before I tried to jump right in to solving who killed Zoe. I loved the ending though, in hindsight, I feel I should have caught on sooner.
