The List

The List written by: Siobhan Vivian Genre(s): realistic fiction and young adult Rate: 10/10 About the book: At a high school two girls from each grade are picked out every year. One of the girls are voted the ugliest in their grade, the other is voted the prettiest in their grade. The book is about how each of them handle the pressure and attention they get from being on the list. Every year a new person gets told to make the list and pass it on as a tradition. With the new principal in control, will they find out who made the list this year or will history keep repeating itself? Why I liked the book: This book was full of great characters that were nothing alike so it made for interesting chapters. Every chapter it was a new girl's prospective and new things were happening. It was funny and dramatic all the same. It had a meaningful message you learn at the end of the book. Fun facts: This author just released a new book called " Stay Sweet ".    The author

Speak

Speak written by: Laurie Halse Anderson Genre(s): fiction, and young adult Rate: 8/10 About the book: Melinda has had a very bad year, it started going down hill at a party her and her friends attended. Something happened to her that night that she is too afraid to share with anyone else. She called the cops on the party and now everyone hates her for it, all her friends and even her very best friend. She becomes quite and doesn't talk to very many people and her parents don't help because when she gets home they are fighting anyways. Will she end up telling anyone what really happened? What will happened if they find out? Why I liked the book: I found a lot of text-to-self all through out this book and connected a lot with the main character. I liked the symbolism for her art project she has to make for class. There was a strong female lead and not too many main characters to keep track of due to her lack of friends. Fun facts: The author doesn't plan on making
